Farmington Travel Guide
Welcome to Farmington, NM!
Located in the San Juan River Valley, Farmington is the largest city in the Four Corners region of the United States, where the borders of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado all meet at a single spot. The region surrounding Farmington is consistent with the image people have of the southwestern United States, with desert steppes and rugged mountains covering the landscape. The area was a meeting point for many American Indian cultures, including the Navajo, Hopi, Apache and Ute peoples, and much of these influences still remain. The Aztec Ruins National Monument near Farmington is a series of pueblo structures dating back to the 11th century. Outdoor recreation is a prominent activity in the area, with miles of open desert for hiking, biking and off-roading. Navajo Lake State Park harbors the second largest lake in New Mexico and is a popular destination for fishing, camping and boating.
